Titanic II design launch party in New York will be delayed in order to honor the victims of the storm Sandy.
Clive Palmer, Australian mining billionaire Titanic II originator of the idea, saying that the launch is scheduled to be held on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid had retired in New York, where he launched a design and project plan Titanic II, will be rescheduled in early 2013.
"Mayor Michael Bloomberg to cancel the launch of the world New York Marathon last weekend because they do not want any early darkness surrounding the event, after the storm and the damage it caused," said Palmer.
"New York has close ties to the original RMS Titanic and the White Star Line shipping company and we believe it is too early to roll out the launch while the city and the region is still recovering."
Palmer caused an international uproar in April when he announced plans to build a replica of the Titanic with dimensions similar to the original, which sank in 1912 and left more than 1,500 people were killed.
The new vessel will be a mirror of the original dimensions of the ship, which has a length of 270 meters, 53 meters high and weighs 40,000 tons, and is scheduled to perform the first passenger trip in 2016 in New York.
